The ThermWise Business Custom Rebates Program is a demand-side management (DSM) opportunity offered by Questar Gas with the goal of obtaining verifiable, cost-effective, and long-term natural gas savings. Program participants submit project proposals for a firm quantity of natural gas reduction through the installation of demand-side management measures. After installation, review and approval by Questar Gas, customers will receive $1.00 per therm saved up to 50% of the eligible incurred project cost.
To participate in the ThermWise Business Custom Rebates Program, a customer must be served by Questar Gas in the State of Utah and install a qualifying measure in a separately metered facility on a GS rate schedule. Customers who receive natural gas on residential, commercial F-1, F-3, F-4 or interruptible rate schedules (I-4, IS-4, T-1, E-1) are not eligible to participate in the program at this time.
Qualifying measures may be installed in either existing or new construction applications and include any measure that:
- Produces a verifiable natural gas usage reduction
- Has a minimum useful life of 7 years
- Is not offered though the post-purchase ThermWise Business Rebates Program
Examples of Eligible Measures
• Heat-recovery Installations
• Solar Hot-Water Heating
• Retro-commissioning projects
• Control system upgrades
• Process equipment insulation improvements
Final determination of qualifying measures is subject to the approval of the Program Administrator.
The ThermWise Business Custom Rebates Program requires customers to submit specific information for each project and to conduct energy engineering and commissioning at their own cost. Please contact the Program Administrator if you need assistance identifying an energy engineer to support your project.
Rebates offered through the ThermWise Business Custom Rebates program for qualifying projects shall be the lesser of:
- $1.00 per therm saved during the first year following installation, or
- 50% of eligible project costs
Rebates will be paid in the form of a check within 45 days of approval of a complete project application.
Step 1 — Contact Us - Contact the Program Administrator to discuss the proposed project and determine rebate availability and whether working with an energy engineering firm is recommended.
Step 2 — Submit Pre-Installation Report - Submit a Pre-Installation Report, outlining the proposed project, estimated gas savings, and projected costs and sign a Program Agreement. The Program Administrator must approve the Pre-Installation Report before any equipment is purchased or installed to be eligible for rebates.
Step 3 — Complete the Project - Purchase, Install and Commission approved measures.
Step 4 — Submit Post-Installation Report - Submit a Post-Installation Report detailing the measures installed, commissioning performed, and final estimated gas savings and project costs.
Step 5 — Receive a Rebate - Questar will review the Post-Installation Report and conduct an inspection. Rebate approval and amount will be contingent on final inspection results and paid in the form of a check within 45 days of approval.
